Remote Tab

This tab is used to connect to the telnet port to any 7D2D server, including your local server. This is the connection on which RAT relies to get all of its information from the 7D2D server and MUST be configured correctly for RAT to work.

You can connect to any server anywhere and you do not need to run the server locally for this to work. All of the RAT features will work, EXCEPT those on the Local tab. This is done, so that those running a dedicated server, but it is not hosted on the same machine as RAT, can still use the majority of the RAT features. Basically, without this connection, RAT is mostly useless.

Local Tab

If you are going to run your 7D2D server on the same machine as RAT, you'll want to fill out this section and "Enable local server" checked. What this does is tells RAT that you want RAT to manage your server config, perform the health checks and otherwise make sure your local 7D2D server stays up and running. Essentially the things that cannot be done over the Telnet connection. If you set this up, then you would set the Remote Tabs Telnet settings to the same settings as the Telnet settings in the Local tab. Basically, you're just making a local connection to your 7D2D server from RAT in this case.

If you are not running RAT on the same machine as your 7D2D server, then don't bother setting any of the local settings, they will not work.

Howdy, I've heard your RAT application is pretty slick and I'd like to use it! I've read the above but still have questions. I use hosthavoc.com for my dedicated server. I figured out how to use Filezilla FTP and now my server is utilizing Alloc's server fixes (I understand that's kind of required to use your app). Beyond that I think I just need a little guidance on the Remote Tab and what to put where. Forgive my ignorance. Any help is greatly appreciated and look forward to bettering my active server! Thanks!

Hey there, thanks for using RAT! =) Since you are remotely hosted, you'll only need to fill out the Remote section. The information there will have matching settings on your configuration for your server. So somewhere in your server settings (Sorry, I've never see that hosts setup), you'll have a host(or IP), telnet port and telnet password. That is the information you'll put in the corresponding fields within the Remote tab in RAT. I hope that helps!

Hello! I'm very new to trying to host my own server for 7D2D. I have gotten it up and running enough that I could log in and play with a few family members. I have failed at getting the Allocs and BC fixes to install correctly. I have followed the guides but I'm missing something. The lights in RAT stay red :(. Now I cannot get the Telnet to connect. In the console it says Password incorrect, please enter password. I am assuming this is related to Telnet since the Telnet light is yellow.

Here are where I put the Allocs and BC files

I hope you can help. I'm not a programmer and just trying to learn. Thank you for your time.

I'm heading out for a bit, but wanted to reply quickly so you didn't have to wait. So I'll reply better later if this doesn't help, but...

Everything looks good in general. I see that the server process is running, so that's good. So try this:

Go to a DOS prompt, type in: telnet localhost 8081

If you don't have telnet installed (its a Microsoft thing), you can find instructions here on installing it: How to open a Telnet session on Windows 7 or Windows 8 OS

See if you get prompted for the password. Then enter your password (don't make a mistake, you can't backspace). Press enter

If you can log in, there is some other issue. But if you can't (and I suspect you can't), it sounds like the server is running with a different serverconfig.xml than you are expecting. That'll be something more to troubleshoot and we can do that if you're still having problems.

Basically, I'm trying to take RAT out of the situation and see if you can telnet in. =)

Thanks so much for such a quick reply. Somehow Telnet was unchecked. It was not part of my problem when I started. I just couldn't get the allocs and bc to install correctly.

I can get to where it asks for the password but still says its incorrect in the cmd window.

Telnet being unchecked is ok, its normal and not required for RAT to work. Its just for testing in this case.

The BC and Allocs lights won't light up until you successfully make a telnet connection.

Ok, that's what I figured. Somehow, your 7D2D server is being started with the wrong serverconfig.xml file. I'm heading out like I said and wont' be back for several hours, but I can help later. If you have something like TeamView or Skype or some way to do a screenshare, that'd make things a lot easier. Entirely up to you though. =)

skype, later. Thanks so much

I think I'm experiencing this same problem. Can't get Alloc's Fixes and Bad Company lights to go green. Have installed to the mods folder. Running the latest build. Telnet in and it doesn't accept my password. What was the fix?

If your password isn't being accepted, there is no way for those lights to go green, a good telnet connection is needed first. After that, what mods are installed can be determined by RAT. So get the telnet connection working first, then move on to the mods.

Hi there! I just signed up to use your admin tool (just pulled the trigger on using a hosted 7DTD server for me and some friends). I believe I have FTP'd the required mods over to the server, and I have successfully ran a telnet command, but I'm still not getting the BC and ALLOC lights to go green.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Here's a cap of FileZilla showing that (I believe) the ALLOC and BC mods are installed correctly:

Here's my Windows 10 Telnet Output to the server:

From the looks of that, your actual 7D2D game is in the 7D2D folder? Regardless though, you need to put the Mods folder in your 7D2D server installation folder, not the SteamCMD folder.

OK I definitely messed that up. Would the server install folder be "7DaysToDieServer_Data", as shown below:

OK, nm, I'm an idiot. I put the mods folder under the 7D2D folder. My brain is filled with ants sometimes. I am green across the board, thank you for your help! Can't wait to get into this admin tool and really mess around. Thanks again!

Excellent, glad to hear you got it all working. =)
Hey man, I just started playing around with the dedicated server and I am having the same issue that guy had with Bad Company and Alloc's Fixes being lit up red... I have a good Telnet connection...

Odds are, you have the mods not installed in the correct place, or that you have an older version of BCM.

Since you do have a good telnet connection, you can tell which it is by going to the console tab, type: version

Then paste the results here.

What you're looking for though is whether or not BCManager is returned in those results, and if so, what version. If the version is below 2.2.3, then you're going to want to upgrade to at least 2.2.3. You can find that here: Release Version 2.2.3 stable · 7days2mod/BadCompanySM · GitHub

hi i got all green all but alloc"s fixes but that seem strange as bad company in the same folder not sure what going on here lol they both go in the mods folder or so i have read
