if updating RAT from 2029 to 2031 can i just install over old version i dont want to loose all my events and messages i made... also does 2031 work with A 17.1 or only 17.2?

You can install over the top. But I'd recommend making a backup copy of the database first. It is in %appdata%\nomadsoft, filename 7d2d_rat.db
2031 has specific values for 17.2, but I think they would just be ignored on 17.1, but you never know. Sorry I can't give more info than that, but I never tested backward compatibility because its experimental.
