I can't find any information regarding the mysteries of how to install some features correctly.

I've spent an ~90 mins trying different key words to unravel the mysteries of this program to no avail. I have successfully used this program by using the little information available and guessing at the rest. I have a friend who can link to my game, the map download begins, then at 6% progress it freezes.

Now, I'm going over everything with a fine tooth comb.

1 aka the "Server Path" has to be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server"
2 aka the "User Data Folder" has to be.... I have no idea so I guessed "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\7DaysToDieServer_Data" or would it be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\Data" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server\BCMDataV4.0.0" ?
3 aka the "Save Game Path" I guessed that once it was directed to a folder it would created a file within that has all the game information within so I chose "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server" - I'm not certain of this
4 aka "Game Server Installation & Updating" , I've never touched this and everything has worked; should I configure this?

1 aka "Save Game Location" as you can see I've been experimenting, yet I think the answer remains the same - it should be the same folder as #3 in the previous picture therefore I should direct it to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days to Die Dedicated Server" - I'm not certain about this either

one last note: all ports function, I run the dedicated server and play on it from the same computer (probably why I have no problem downloading the game and playing *shrugs, idk*) and the firewall has exceptions made for everything involved in this endeavor

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with RAT, but I can clear up a few things. First, if you mouse over the text like "Server Path", you'll get a standard tool tip popup that will describe that field a little more.

Screen Shot #1

1 is correct
2 and 3 can be blank by default
4 you don't have to mess with unless you want to use RAT to update your server. You can always update it manually if you'd like as well.

Screen shot #2

1 Try this thread for help on that. Backups not working

Once you are sure those settings are correct, then you're friend probably won't get the problem they are having connecting as the game world files should be found. Basically, most of the defaults RAT has for the server config, come right out of the default settings for the dedicated server, and most of those don't need to be changed.

Haio the main thing that could affect the download is
1. your internet upload speed an how stable it is at the time of someone downloading it.
2. the internet connection the other person has for downloading the map.
any cut out along the way from 1 or 2 could affect downloading the world.
if its just taking forever then you have your upload vs ur friends download speed vs how big you made your custom map that ur friend would need to download. in some cases it can stop for a bit then jump back up.
the other thing would be if your friend has logs at all from when it was downloading or watch task manager to make sure its downloading as if the nets not great an u try doing other things in the background then connection can be lost :)
as for ur 1st pic to keep things clean this is what i do.
Screenshot_86.png

the save data saves map, player data, admins, web permissions, an a bunch of things
the user data just seems to hold random gen map info as far as i know.
i just have it nicely in a folder so easy to access an not mixed with other files.

ok, so i have all the ports forwarded and everything running right (i believe so) yet my friend still runs into the same problem except he can download a little more, 39% progress this time instead of 6% progress

ok unsure when you will get this but message me ya server ip an port so i can try connect in case its just ur friend going if he is getting that far then it has nothing to do with the server ports as he/she is connecting but i cant help much if you cant give the basic info as you have shown no logs that i have asked for.
another thing u could do is in the server config file edit the download speed to make it faster an see if that helps or play with the steam networking options as that can also make a difference.

according to the console it completely sends the world but according the screen it gets stuck 39% transfer progress

1:15 world transfer starts 1:17 world transfer completes

hmm
will try connect myself an see what happens

man! i feel stupid, everything went perfect after i figured out the setup the first time; after the alpha change, i forget what happened, i had to reinstall 7D2D RAT and nothing is going right. I have three saves of one server in three different locations and somehow my server shows up in my local game save file location.

I'm going to uninstall, delete everything, and try again. Third time is the charm!

The top one is when the generated map goes / where ever you set you used data in rat.
The center one is what rat would put in the save data location and the bottom one is the client save where it downloads it to from the server. Deleting it would make it download again an if you delete the top 2 the server would need to build the map again as you would of deleted it off the server.
